We have been teaching master’s degrees in logistics for more than 40 years, and have developed an excellent reputation for teaching and research in this field. We work with industry partners, and monitor changing sector trends, to ensure you have the very latest skills and knowledge to prepare you for an exciting career in supply chain management. Cranfield boasts one of Europe’s largest specialist logistics, procurement and supply chain management faculty. We have contributed significantly to the de velopment of creative and customised insights into today’s complex supply chain environment. We offer two full-time one-year specialist master’s degrees in supply chain management, each tailored to the specific disciplines of logistics or procurement. Both courses have been developed to produce expert supply chain professionals. They are designed for recent graduates who wish to prepare for a first professional role and future career in the field, and early career professionals looking to accelerate their position by enhancing their knowledge and skills.

Course structure Our master's degree courses combine compulsory and elective modules. You will develop your practical skills and confidence through a combination of interactive lectures, participative workshops, case studies, site visits and presentations from high-profile visiting speakers. Study tour The study tour is a unique opportunity to experience a supply chain perspective in a different part of the United Kingdom. You will gain first-hand experience of how supply strategies are influenced by different pressures (both internal and external), and you will gain a rich understanding of the differences between supply chain practices of a variety of organisations. The tour normally takes place over three to four days. On your return you will have gained valuable insights and will appreciate the diverse nature of supply chain management. Please note that the study tour is an optional component of the courses, and if undertaken is subject to additional costs. It is also subject to travel restrictions.

Individual thesis You will either undertake a desk-based research project for your individual thesis, or you may have the opportunity to work on a company-based project in collaboration with one of our industrial partners. Academic staff Our faculty are renowned in their field, with broad industry experience. They work with operating boards of numerous global businesses, ensuring that their lectures are contemporary and stimulating. They are supported by a team of visiting speakers and professors from around the world. Dr Hendrik Reefke, Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management

Hendrik is the Course Director for the Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc and Procurement and Supply Chain Management MSc. He has held academic positions in the UK, Germany and New Zealand. He holds an award-winning PhD from the University of Auckland as well as a Master's and Bachelor (Honours) in Operations and Supply Chain Management. Hendrik is known for his capability in warehousing, a specialised area characterised by complexities regarding design, equipment, operations and managerial implications. He is an active researcher, focusing primarily on sustainable supply chain management, service supply chains, as well as warehousing. He has conducted various consulting and research projects, including 'Sustainable Transport in the UK', 'Health Supply Chain Transformations in Developing Countries', 'Supply Chain Trends', and 'The Effects of Brexit on Supply Chain Locations'. Dr Farooq Habib, Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management Farooq is the Deputy Course Director for the Procurement and Supply Chain Management MSc. He has held visiting faculty positions at numerous business schools. He has held management positions for more than 16 years in export-oriented organisations in the textiles and food and beverage sectors, and has worked with global brands such as Levi Strauss, Marks & Spencer, Nestlé and Unilever. His current research includes exit strategies in industrial relationships, the implications of global regulations and technological advancements on sustainability, and risk management in food and pharmaceutical cold chains. Dr Lorenzo Prataviera, Lecturer in Logistics and Supply Chain Management Lorenzo is the Deputy Course Director of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc. He holds a PhD in Management, Economics, and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Before joining Cranfield School of Management in 2021, he lectured and undertook research on logistics, supply chain management and industrial engineering at Politecnico di Milano since May 2016. From 2018 to 2019 he also held a position as Guest Researcher at Lund University, Sweden. His main research interests concern global distribution network design, taking a multidisciplinary attitude to go beyond logistics boundaries and enlarge the adopted perspective. This includes developing the interface between the logistics and fiscal domains and investigating sustainability issues for global supply chains. Further research is conducted regarding postponement strategies, supply chain environmental sustainability, supply chain collaboration, supply chain resilience, logistics outsourcing, and logistics innovation.
