Course details By studying this master's in business data analytics, you will be immersed in a varied, stimulating and experimental learning environment. Our Business Data Analytics MSc places emphasis on real-world challenges. Modules include case studies, participative exercises, interactive lectures, group projects and sessions hosted by industry speakers. Our MSc is distinctive because it helps you develop the theoretical and practical tools and techniques of data analytics and how to apply them to real work situations. You will learn in an interdisciplinary setting, where the data analytical tools will be applied to problems relating to companies in a diverse range of sectors. You will learn how to become skilled at managing projects and delivering meaningful solutions, you will become more adept at solving problems, and understanding the basic and more complex situations encountered in the workplace. We attract talented staff from around the world. Many of them are world-leading in their area of expertise. Our research informs your learning; examples of some of our most recent research includes analysis relating to global trends including foreign direct investment, government expenditure, income inequality, appraisal of renewable energy initiatives, economically viable sustainable projects, economic impacts and implications relating to financial markets, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, entrepreneurial ventures and analysis of digital and sustainable new business models.

Course structure Our specialist, sector-facing master's courses are set up and developed in close collaboration with industry partners, ensuring the content of our courses remain industry-relevant and employers are impressed with your business-readiness. Individual project An opportunity to think and work in an original way. For example, this could be working on a project for a university partner, delving deeper into an area of specific interest or a real-world challenge in the sector you want to work in.

Bloomberg Suite Cranfield School of Management has its own Bloomberg Suite. This investment banking database is used by banking and financial institutions worldwide to enable investment decisions. You will receive training in how to use this database, and then be able to put your learning into practice by undertaking research, analysing data and applying modelling techniques to the data. You will be able to empirically test the knowledge, ideas and theoretical concepts you learn in the classroom using the database.

Careers The Careers and Employability Service offers a comprehensive service to help you develop a set of career management skills that will remain with you throughout your career. During your course you will receive support and guidance to help you plan an effective strategy for your personal and professional development, whether you are looking to secure your first data analyst role or wanting to take your career to the next level. The market for data analysts is widely recognised as one of the fastest growing job markets. On completion of this course, graduates can expect to apply their skills in a range of private sector organisations in areas such as finance, consulting, retail, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. Graduates can also expect to find opportunities to apply their skills in the public sector, non-governmental organisations and education.

Andrew is part of the Economics group ranked Number 1 in the world by the Financial Times for the teaching of economics on MBA programmes in 2017. Andrew has held a number of other posts at Cranfield University, such as Director of the Full-time MBA, Course Director of the MSc in Management and Corporate Sustainability (2014-17) and the MSc in Economics for Natural Resource and Environmental Management (2009-12). Andrew's research focuses on the economics of clean technology, natural resource markets, pricing strategies and environmental policy.

Ying received her PhD degree in Management Science from Coventry University. Currently she is the Professor in Supply Chain Analytics at Cranfield School of Management. Ying successfully applies scientific tools to resolve business problems in multiple disciplines, including operations management, finance, healthcare, disaster management, sustainability and many more.

Dr Lakshmy Subramanian, Lecturer in Financial Economics

Lakshmy holds a PhD in Development Economics and her research interests include growth and development, financial inclusion, household decision making, the impact of banking on the economy, trends in consumption, poverty and inequality, public health, public policy, health supply chains and sustainability. She has over 10 years experience working in academia and industry in India and the UK. Lakshmy has closely worked with Government agencies in India, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Kenya.

Vineet completed his PhD at Cranfield before joining the School of Management's faculty. He previously worked in investment banking in the area of pricing, structuring and marketing of initial and seasoned equity offerings and also private placement of fixed income bearing securities. Vineet's areas of expertise are: asset pricing, market efficiency, bankruptcy prediction models and financial modelling.
