The Apprenticeship The Senior People P rofessional Apprenticeship: Strategic Human Resource Management PgDip + MSc has been designed to develop the next generation of HR leaders. This programme enables practitioners to develop an evidence-based and theory-informed approach to HRM practice with a focus on real-world application across different organisational contexts and industries. Students develop critical thinking and the skills to design and lead a strategic people agenda, advancing their careers as future-savvy strategic people professionals who influence with impact. Cranfield University currently offers only the HRM option as prescribed by the Senior People Professional Apprenticeship Standard (Learning and Development or Organisational Development options are not currently offered).
Course details The course consists of seven modules that are studied over an 18-month period delivered through a combination of immersive in-person workshops at Cranfield University, live online seminars, self-paced online learning and work-based activities. Immersive in-person workshops take place in teaching blocks of two or three days at a time, with intervals of one to three months between workshops. This allows you the flexibility to juggle learning with busy jobs and personal life. During this 18-month period, students build their portfolio of work-based evidence with support from their employer and their Cranfield Apprenticeship Tutor who provides support and personal check ins. This concludes with an End-Point Assessment (EPA), which includes the student’s Project Proposal, supported by their employer, completed over a four-month period by students within the six-month EPA period. Apprentices obtain CIPD Chartered Membership on successful completion of the EPA.
