Introduction to programme, online Approximately 8 hours Delve into your journey on the Talent Development Programme with a carefully curated section of content. You will explore a range of activities that involve key business functions, engage with your peers, and start to understand your leadership style and how that’s impacting your organisation. In addition to this, you will begin your business simulation experience, where you and your team will assume roles and lead a fictional organisation through an ever-changing business environment.

You will take a deeper dive into the realities of leadership, developing a management perspective and tools to further enhance your leadership skills, by turning inward to become more effective and influential within your organisation.

Action plan implementation, face-to-face Five days residential

Consolidate your personal and professional development by creating your three-month action plan, where you embark on a project to solve an organisational challenge and continue implementing a range of innovative tools and frameworks to increase the performance of your team and align them closer to organisational goals.

Six-month progress review day, face-to-face One day Three months after the completion of module three, we invite you back to Cranfield to review the results of your three-month action plan with your peers. You will then use these learnings to formulate ambitious development targets, to aid your transition into an effective and influential leader.

12 month continuing development review day, face-to-face One day

To support your continuing development, we invite you back to Cranfield for a 12-month review day, where you and your peers reflect on the long-term impact of your personal and professional development on you and your organisation.

Programme philosophy This programme is delivered over two modules as part of an immersive learning experience. As you progress through the programme, you’ll broaden your organisational awareness, by understanding how business functions operate and how you can align your team and functional activities closer to business strategy. To develop your leadership capabilities and aid your transition, you’ll have access to a range of ready-to-implement tools and techniques that will also be supplemented with guided reflection, peer-to-peer learning, and formal coaching with the programme director to help you gain the clarity and confidence needed to drive change and performance. Ongoing coaching Throughout your Cranfield experience, you will benefit from executive coaching after each module, which is focused on your growth as a leader. By developing your self-leadership, you’ll understand how to translate your plans into action and how you can start to drive change in your organisation by enabling your team and function to thrive. Individual organisational project You will identify and execute a real-life project that will add value to your organisation and demonstrate what you have learned on the programme. Your line manager’s involvement at crucial stages of your project will ensure your proposal is both actionable, achievable and designed to create real impact in your organisation. Live business simulation – learn by doing You will work with a group of fellow participants to assess complex situations relating to a fictitious commercial business operating in an ever-changing business environment. You will work to make strategic decisions involving key business functions, enabling you to put into practice what you learn on the programme in a risk-free environment.

Programme Director

Philippa Thurgur BA (Hons) MSc Philippa has extensive experience in designing and directing successful executive development initiatives for middle and senior managers, enabling them to develop a broader organisational perspective and accelerate their personal development, particularly in their general management leadership and team capabilities. Philippa’s experience includes programme directing executive development interventions for a wide range of clients in a broad range of sectors, from SMEs to large global organisations across Europe, Asia Pacific and the USA, many of whom are undertaking significant organisational change.

Jutta Tobias Mortlock (Ph.D.) is a Social Psychologist with over 20 years of experience in organisational development and capacity-building in six countries on three continents.

Dr. Karen Janman Faculty Associate Dr. Karen Janman is a Faculty Associate at Cranfield School of Management. She is a Registered and Chartered Occupational Psychologist with 30 years of experience operating as a consultant, business coach and company director. Professor Joe Nellis CBE Professor of Global Economy Professor Joe Nellis is Professor of Global Economy specialising in global macroeconomics, business environmental analysis, strategic thinking and management development.

Professor Cliff Bowman has undertaken a wide range of consulting assignments which focus on the facilitation of strategy processes within firms and has written eight books and published over sixty papers.
