Demonstrator 1: Space actuator housing One of the MULTI-FUN project work packages is the process development of Laser - Wire Direct Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing to manufacture a thermally critical actuator housing demonstrator with functional cooling channels to improve the heat transfer capabilities for operation within a space environment (i.e., vacuum with no convection). OBJECTIVE KEY RESULTS
Current state-of-the-art actuator
Laser wire deposited copper channels
Laser wire cladded stainless steel housing
Finished machined part with embedded copper channels
